About Department

      The Department of Mathematics teaches UG and PG courses. Six faculty members of our department are guiding the students for the award of Doctoral degree. The Department has a well-established research centre recognized by VTU. So far 48 candidates have received their Doctoral degree awards from VTU and 05 candidates have received their Doctoral degree from Central and Private Universities. The Department has an excellent record of 252 publications in major refereed International Journals that includes Scopus and Web of Science journals.

The Department of Mathematics specializes in Fluid Mechanics, Graph Theory, Differential Geometry, and Number Theory, with a focus on rigorous theory and practical applications. These areas support research, higher studies, and interdisciplinary problem-solving in engineering and sciences.

The department of mathematics envisages to be a centre of excellence in mathematics through vigorous engagement in teaching, research and training.

Mission

• To transform the budding engineers into competent and motivated professionals with sound theoretical and practical knowledge in mathematics.
• To engender post graduate students with strong foundation and motivation to opt for research and development as a carrier.
• To create an atmosphere conducive to high class interdisciplinary research and to produce researchers with strong analytical skills and vision who can in future become experts in various areas of research in mathematics.
• To contribute to the development of the nation through teaching, research and training.
