About Department

      The Department of Mathematics teaches UG and PG courses. Five of our faculty members guide the students for research work leading to Doctoral degree. The Department has a well-established research centre recognized by VTU and so far 46 candidates have received their Doctoral degree  awards from this research centre. In addition to this, the faculty members have guided 05 candidates for their doctoral degrees from Central and Private Universities.  The Department has an excellent record of 353 publications in major refereed International Journals that include Scopus and Web of Science indexed journals. Also, more than 200 papers have been presented in National and International conferences. The department has the distinction of having obtained the best paper publication award from VGST, Govt. of Karnataka twice during 2011-12 and 2017-18. One of the faculty members has been conferred the Innovative Research Award by the World Research Council in the year 2020 and the Indian Glory Award for Best Mathematics Professor Award for the year 2021 by IGAC.  External funding to the tune of Rs.7.0 Lakhs has been received for two projects one from VTU and other from VGST. The department has also received approval for a project during the year 2021-22 for Rs.5 lakhs by the institution.


The department of mathematics envisages to be a centre of excellence in mathematics through vigorous engagement in teaching, research and training.

  • To transform the budding engineers into competent and motivated professionals with sound theoretical and practical knowledge in mathematics.
  • To engender post graduate students with strong foundation and motivation to opt for research and development as a carrier.
  • To create an atmosphere conducive to high class interdisciplinary research and to produce researchers with strong analytical skills and vision who can in future become experts in various areas of research in mathematics.
  • To contribute to the development of the nation through teaching, research and training.
