The Department of Instrumentation Technology (IT) established in the academic year 1985-86 with an intake of 40 and subsequently intake is Increased to 60 students in the year 2012.The department received ISO: 9001 – 2000 quality management certification and accredited) twice, 2004 for a period of 3 years and 2012 for a period of 5 years by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The department is aided by the Government of Karnataka since Oct 1992. UGC has conferred academic autonomous status for the UG in the academic year 2010-11 and 2018-19 respectively.
Nomenclature of the department has been changed from Instrumentation Technology to Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering by VTU Belagavi in the year 2014-15.Currently the program offers Under Graduate (UG) degree with an intake of 60The department has experienced a continued improvement of faculty .The synergy of the progressive management, committed faculty, staff, and students are ensuring in excellent academic results year after year. The department prepares the graduating engineers so that they are able to pursue a successful professional career in the outside world. The quality of the graduating students is reflected in good on-campus/off-campus recruitment, in core and allied industries up to 80% among the eligible candidates. A significant number of our graduates pursue higher education in Engineering/ Management in prestigious Universities in India and abroad.The Department has 12 faculty including Principal and HOD in which 05 are Doctorates from recognized universities and organizations with diversified specializations like Control Guidance, Robotics, image processing VLSI etc. 07 Faculty members who have done their UG and PG degree from top universities. Faculties have published technical papers in well-known National/International Journals and are members of prestigious professional bodies like IEEE, IE (I), ISTE, and ISA. The management has keen interest to promote quality education and provide financial assistance to faculty members and students to present papers in Conferences. The Department also encourages the staff members to pursue Ph.D programmes to improve their academic qualifications. The infrastructure and laboratory facilities are being upgraded from time to time so as per current Technology, the opportunities to students and researchers to learn and carry out technological innovations. Financial support for this purpose is provided by the PVP Welfare trust, university and TEQIP World Bank.
The department faculty is successfully engaging the sponsored research projects funded by various agencies such as AICTE, VTU, VGST, and PVP welfare trust and actively involving in consultancy activities.
