Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering

About Department

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) was established in the academic year 1980-81 affiliated to Bangalore University with an intake of 30 and later came under the Grant-in-Aid scheme of the Government of Karnataka since Oct1992. In 1998 the college was affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi with an intake of 60. Presently the UG course is of intake 60 students and 10% lateral entry students. The department obtained academic autonomous status under VTU, Belagavi in the year 2010-11 and was also accredited by NBA, New Delhi since 2008. The PG course M.Tech in Power Electronics was started in 2009-10 with the intake of 18 running under the EEE Department.

The Department is recognized as a research center under VTU, Belagavi, and currently 17 Ph.D. Research Scholars are engaged in Research and Development. The department is successfully engaging the sponsored research projects funded by various agencies such as AICTE, VTU, VGST, and PVP welfare trust.

The Department has 15 faculty including HOD of which 06 are Doctorates from recognized universities and organizations with diversified specializations like Power Electronics, Power Systems, and High Voltage and Insulation Engineering, etc. Faculties have published more than 150 technical papers in well-known National/International Journals and are members of prestigious professional bodies like IEEE, IE(I), ISTE, ISSS, CRSI, and CSI. IEEE and IE(I) Students Chapter has been set up. Students are trained for broad career opportunities through industry set-up labs like ISRO, TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Technology, Psim, MiPower Simulation tools supported by PRDC.  Students have participated and won prizes in intercollegiate technical Activities.

The laboratories in the department are well equipped with good infrastructure software like Matlab, PSIM, Keil, etc. as per VTU and AICTE and Supported by Texas Boards for UG and Research Projects. The department facilitates industry-institute interaction with the industries like Wistron Corporation, Infosys, TCS Technologies, etc. through Collaborations for industrial visits, internships, workshops, and job opportunities. Overall Department of EEE aims at a holistic approach towards the overall development of students at large through building technical skills and Quality Managerial skills.
